Create a Simple Olive Branch Wreath

Hanging a wreath on your front door is nothing new. Hanging a wreath with a little more purpose, well why not? Make this simple olive branch wreath in a couple of hours.

Hi friends, I have another super simple wreath for you! This time we are shaking things up and using a square grapevine wreath. Yep, we are living large today! Let’s get started on this simple olive branch wreath.

A couple of years ago, I was asked if I would make a wreath for our new associate pastor’s front door. Of course!, I said. As I was strolling through the craft store looking for inspiration, my eyes fell upon faux olive branch bushes. Well, the wheels started turning and what better way to greet people than with an olive branch? So our little wreath today, beckons a peaceful hello.

Supplies for the olive branch wreath:

  • Olive branches from your local craft store
  • Wire cutters (to cut branches)
  • Pipe cleaners
  • Wood sign greeting
  • Ribbon for bow (optional)
  • Scissors
  • glue gun (for unruly branches)
  • glue sticks

Step 1: Tuck in the olive branches

Cut the olive branch bushes in half and begin tucking them into the grapevine wreath counter-clockwise. Secure the branches with the pipe cleaner. Make it as full as you desire. I desired very fluffy, ha!

Step 2: Create a bow…if you want

I chose a burlap ribbon and a little chicken wire ribbon – be super careful with the chicken wire ribbon – it can be really mean. If you need a simple bow tutorial – i’ve got you. Just click here.

Step 3: Add a little extra if you want

I found this sweet little cross at my local craft store but it wasn’t quite working for the look I was going for. So, I painted it. I know YOU ARE SO SUPRISED BY THAT. I mean me, paint something?!?  HA,HA! Attach with a pipe cleaner cleverly hidden behind a couple of branches.

Step 4: Say HELLO to the world!

I grabbed this cute stylized “Hi” at the craft store and gave it a bit of pizazz with a little precious metals paint.

I dry brushed the metallic paint onto to my little hello. I like the subtleness and it dried quicker!

Amazing how quick this little wreath came together and I love the idea of greeting guests with an olive branch. Something that should be incorporated in our everyday life, right?

Here are few quick links if you would like to get started on this project. These are affliate links and I will receive a very small commission but no charge to you. Purchasing through my website helps pay the bills. Image may be NSFW.
